For 63 years, volunteers have been an integral part of Wyoming Medical Center. They've brought patients flowers, delivered mail, escorted visitors through the hospital and even led our hospital-wide daily bingo game.

In observance of National Volunteer Week, April 12-18, we are posting a photo marking the beginning of this long and successful partnership. You can stop in and show your appreciation for all they've done for this hospital at the Cottage Gift Shop open house on Friday. We’ll have raffles, giveaways and refreshments.

  • When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 17
  • Where: Cottage Gift Shop, second floor of the McMurry West Tower at Wyoming Medical Center

"The hospital’s volunteer program is unique. Not only do our volunteers donate their time, but proceeds from the volunteer-run gift shop and other yearly fundraisers benefit both hospital staff and patients," said NJ Olsen, volunteer coordinator.

We also have volunteer opportunities for students ages 16 and older, and you can read about young candy stripers from yesteryear here.

Throwback Thursday is a series celebrating Wyoming Medical Center’s long and rich history in Natrona County. Special thanks to the Casper College Western History Center which archives the vast Wyoming Medical Center collection of newspaper articles, photographs and other memorabilia.
