Dr. Salva specializes in internal medicine and welcomes new adult patients at Mesa Primary Care.
He grew up in a small town in the Philippines where his father was the town physician. Seeing how well loved his father was by patients and their families helped convince Dr. Salva to pursue medicine himself.
He earned his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in Manila where he met his wife, Christina Jara, MD, of Sage Primary Care. They both trained for a year at Philippine General Hospital, a tertiary hospital where the most complicated medical cases were treated.
"We really learned that we had to see the patient as a whole, and not just a set of symptoms. There are just so many social factors that comes into play, and that's why we're glad that we got the training from that institution," he said.
He completed his internal medicine internship at Aultman Hospital, Northeast Ohio Medical University, in Canton, Ohio, and his residency at Montefiore Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in New York City.
As a child, he spent a time with his grandparents which helped steering him toward internal medicine and caring for adult patients.
"I am excited to build relationships with my patients, for the lives that we will be touching as physicians, and lives that will touch us as well," he said.
