Sherri Blanchard, M.D., is a family practice physician at Douglas Primary Care. She welcomes new patients of all ages.
Dr. Blanchard grew up in Indiana and Texas, and she wanted to be a doctor since she was a little girl.
“I am a natural caretaker. I assume I learned that from my mom and dad, but I was always trying to take care of people,” she said. “I know what it’s like to be sick, and I enjoy trying to figure out the mystery of what is ailing my patients. I just love that connection between the patient and myself.”
Dr. Blanchard returned to medical school after starting a family, when her youngest son was in kindergarten. She attended Texas A&M University College of Medicine and completed residencies in psychiatry and family medicine at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
In 2004, she moved to Douglas to open a new family practice clinic, and she saw patients there for seven years. After practicing in Gillette for several years, Dr. Blanchard returns to the town she loves to start another family practice clinic, Douglas Primary Care, 110 N. Second St.
“To some degree, it feels like I am coming home. It is easy to be part of the community in Douglas,” she said.
