Throwback Thursday: 'Accident Fails to Halt Wedding,' Oct. 8, 1961, Tribune Herald & Star
By Kristy Bleizeffer Oct 8, 2020
Weddings may not be our specialty, but when needed, we love to pull out all the stops.
Just ask Maryann Beck-Guith, who planned a spur-of-the-moment wedding in our chapel to make sure her dad, a WMC patient, could walk her down the aisle.
Fifty nine years ago, we did the same for Harry Lehew of Denver and Sue Claire Bryngelson of Billings. Lehew's sports car rolled near Midwest, injuring his leg and crashing straight through his wedding plans. Naturally, he wed his bride inside Memorial Hospital of Natrona County, according to the Tribune-Herald Star.
We wonder where the young(ish) couple is now?
While we don't track the number of weddings we've hosted in our 109-year history (though maybe we should), we have had our fair share. We wish them all love and good health!
Throwback Thursday looks back on Wyoming Medical Center’s long, rich history in Natrona County. Special thanks to the Casper College Western History Center, which archives our vast collection of newspaper articles, photographs and other memorabilia; and to "Wyoming Medical Center: A Centennial History," by Rebecca A. Hunt, Ph.D.
