Throwback Thursday: Candy Stripers throw… - Wyoming Medical Center

Throwback Thursday: Candy Stripers throw Valentine's party, Feb. 21, 1970

By Kristy Bleizeffer Feb 12, 2020

Throwback to Valentine's Day 1970 which was, if you can believe it, 50 YEARS AGO! (Where has this millennium gone?)

Anyway, 50 YEARS AGO, our candy stripers threw a Valentine's party for the kids on the pediatric ward, according to the cutline of this newspaper photo found in one of our scrapbooks.

The cutline reads: 'CANDY STRIPERS GIVE PARTY: The Candy Stripe girls at Memorial Hospital gave a Valentine party for the children in the Pediatric Ward with games and treats for the youngsters. Standing are Carol Sheets and Debbie Olsen; sitting are Amy Holder and Stephanie Zowada who presented a skit on Cannibal King.'

We have some questions!

Where are these candy stripers now, 50 YEARS later? Where can we we get a lollipop like that? What/who is the "Cannibal King?"

If you have any information about this photo, or anything else from five decades earlier, please let us know!

Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday is a series celebrating Wyoming Medical Center’s long and rich history in Natrona County. Special thanks to the Casper College Western History Center which archives the vast Wyoming Medical Center collection of newspaper articles, photographs and other memorabilia.
