Volunteers raise money for stained glass window dedicated to all faiths

Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, and to the talents of a local artist, a new stained-glass window honoring all faith communities now hangs in our interfaith chapel.

On Dec. 7, Wyoming Medical Center chaplains Zac Buhuro and the Rev. Bob McNamara commemorated the window's installation with a blessing ceremony at the chapel.

The project began in May of 2015 when a former chaplain approached the Wyoming Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary to help raise money for the window. The volunteers obliged with great excitement.  When costs were more than anticipated, auxiliary board members Judy Linn and Kara Turner quickly stepped in to donate personal funds so that the project could be completed.

The window was designed by local artist Sharon Harris specifically to embrace all faiths of Wyoming Medical Center guests.

“This was a very special project for me,” Harris said. “I am truly moved by the generosity of those who made this project happen.”

This project is one near and dear to the hearts of our volunteers.  We recognize that spiritual well-being is an essential part of healing for our patients and their families, and our interfaith chapel is a place where families can seek solace during stressful times. Our goal is to raise enough money in the coming months to add a second window and complete the project.

And we are on our way! Immediately following the blessing ceremony, three donors, who requested to remain anonymous, pledged funds to commission the second window, which will be completed in late January.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. I invite people to come admire Harris' beautiful work. The chapel is located on the second floor of the McMurry West Tower.
