Wyoming Medical Center Central Campus

Tomorrow, May 31, Wyoming Medical Center will finalize its purchase of nearly all assets of Mountain View Regional Hospital and Clinic.

The facility will begin operating as Wyoming Medical Center East Campus on Friday, June 1, and will be open for business. All procedures, surgeries and appointments will take place as scheduled unless otherwise notified.

The emergency room at WMC East Campus will permanently close on June 1. We will station an ambulance at the closed ER entrance for a period of time, and patients who report there for treatment will either be directed to WMC Central Campus or transported via ambulance, depending on the nature of their injury or illness.

This closure is necessary for two reasons:

  • WMC Central is a regional trauma center and well-equipped to care for the most serious of medical emergencies including heart attacks, strokes, traumatic injury and more. Closing the East Campus ER allows us to centralize emergency services on one campus while absorbing the small influx of emergency patients from the east.
  • Having one emergency room in Casper avoids the confusion of where to seek the appropriate treatment. In the past, with two operating ERs, patients occasionally sought treatment at the Mountain View location for medical emergencies that required a higher-level of care – such as heart attacks or stroke. This delayed life-saving care. We do not want the community to think that the same medical emergency care will be available at East Campus as is available at WMC Central.

The addition of the East Campus is an exciting time for Wyoming Medical Center. This acquisition will extend our network of patient-centered care and services across Natrona County and the state. Not only are we welcoming new employees and new physicians into the WMC family, we are getting to know new patients and families taking advantage of the widest network of medical specialties in the region.

Patients and families are at the center of everything we do. Moving forward, we will add new services and shift some existing services to the East Campus to better suit the needs of Casper and Wyoming. Look for more exciting changes in the coming months.

Patients of Mountain View Regional Hospital who have questions about an upcoming appointment, medical records or other concerns, should call (877) 266-4700.
