Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen is a well- established treatment for some wounds. Not all patients require Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO), though it is recommended for certain diagnoses. It is administered through an oxygen chamber, allowing patients to breathe 100 percent oxygen at an increased atmospheric pressure. It is a painless, proven way to help the body heal. Patients lie in the chamber anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes per session. This process raises oxygen levels in the plasma, which can then carry oxygen to all body tissues, healing the wound.
Your Role in Healing
Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. We'll count on you to follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely. You'll learn about caring for your wound at home, including how to change dressings and how to protect yourself from further injuries. We're always here to answer questions and give you the support you need to heal.
